It was built in 1939, several things have happened to the building which has led to its state of disrepair.
Outside there is much re-rendering to be done and the whole church needs re-painting. The rain water gutters and eaves need a lot of attention and the roof needs many tiles replacing. The windows need attention and the replacing of some of the glass in them, in the hope that some of our younger element stops using them for target practice!!
The inside of the church also needs a lot of care and attention. The ceiling is painted in an Italianate style but the paint needs refreshing and the heating system needs removing and replacing with an original style blown air system to be housed back down in the cellar. The floor and walls need bringing up to standard and the sanctuary area needs restoring.
At the back of the church a hall and parking area are also planned. The Hall will be accessible from the church and will also house toilet facilities and disabled access.
This is a brief description of the work that needs to be done and it all comes at a cost. The bill for all this work is about £1million!
If you would like to look at the plans and list of works, do pop into the church and have a look.
